The device has a tool driven by an electronically commutated brushless motor (21), and a battery for driving the tool. The battery is arranged at an end of a guiding tube (3), and a motor housing (12) and the tool are arranged at another end of the tube. A rotary work part is arranged at the housing, carries the tool and is rotatively driven by the motor, where cooling air is sucked into the housing via the tube. An annular air outlet gap (35) is formed between the work part and housing, and a guide vane (38) projects into the gap, where the cooling air is discharged through the gap.
