1. A method for providing neurostimulation, comprising the steps of: establishing a first array of a treatment area containing a plurality of centers； scanning a plurality of centers of a treatment area array to determine an activity index for each of a plurality of centers； determining a first subset of a plurality of centers of a treatment area array exposure based on the value of the activity indicator； each center in the first subset of centers is stimulated； at least a plurality of stimulated centers are re-scanned to determine a new value of the activity index for at least a plurality of centers of the first subset of centers. 2. The method of claim 1, further comprising the step of: repeating at least one of the steps of determining, stimulating, and re-scanning to identify the primary subset of centers for therapeutic exposure. The method of claim 2, wherein the primary subset contains only one center. The method of claim 2, further comprising the step of treating the primary subset of centers. The method of claim 1, wherein the determining step comprises the step of determining a subset of a predetermined percentage of the plurality of centers. The method of claim 5, wherein the subset comprises a predetermined percentage of the plurality of centers having the highest activity indices. The method of claim 1, wherein the determining step comprises the step of determining a subset of a predetermined number from a plurality of centers. The method of claim 1, wherein the step of determining is performed at least partially by selecting centers from1.
