The present invention relates to novel depot formulations (prodrugs) comprising an immobility promoting unit linked via an ester to an active pharmaceutical ingredient, i.a. common NSAIDs. The novel depot formulations are suitable for intra-articular injections and are soluble at slightly acidic pH to facilitate ease of injection, and sparingly soluble at physiological pH thereby precipitating at the site of administration. The precipitate will slowly dissolve and the active drug is released from dissolved depot formulation following esterase mediated cleavage of the ester link between the immobility promoting unit and the active pharmaceutical agent.La présente invention concerne de nouvelles formulations retard (promédicaments) comprenant une unité de promotion de l'immobilité liée via un ester à un principe pharmaceutiquement actif, en d'autres termes, des AINS courants. Les nouvelles formulations retard sont adaptées à des injections intra-articulaires et sont solubles à des pH légèrement acides pour faciliter l'injection, et faiblement solubles à pH physiologique, précipitant ainsi au niveau du site d'administration. Le précipité se dissoudra lentement et le médicament actif sera libéré de la formulation retard dissoute après le clivage, médié par l'estérase, de la liaison ester entre l'unité de promotion de l'immobilité et l'agent pharmaceutique actif.
