An endoscope apparatus 1 includes: a laser light source 31； an optical fiber 14 that guides illumination light from the laser light source 31 to an object； a conductive wire 18 brought in close contact with the optical fiber 14； an actuator 15 provided at a distal end of the conductive wire 18 for conducting a drive signal, the actuator swinging a distal end portion of the optical fiber 14 based on the drive signal； a detection circuit 27 that detects that the conductive wire 18 is broken and outputs a detection signal； and a controller 23 that controls an amount of the illuminating light based on the detection signal.
