<；P>；PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surgical stapling and cutting device which provides a connecting type surgical end section operating element, and to provide the using method for the device. <；P>；SOLUTION: This medical device is equipped with a control handle which has a connecting joint actuator, the surgical end section operating element, and a passive connecting joint which connects the end section operating element with the control handle. Under a non-operated state, the connecting joint actuator holds the passive connecting joint and the end section operating element at a connecting position which is substantially fixed. Under an operated state, the passive connecting joint is released into a freely connective state, and the end section operating element is freely connected with the control handle in response to an external force which is applied to the end section operating element. This method is used for operating the end section operating element in this manner. The method comprises the step in which the passive connecting joint is held at a stable position by the connect-fastening, and the step in which the connect-fastening is released, and the passive connecting joint is released.
