The invention relates to a medical device which comprises an expandable lattice mesh (10) consisting of intersecting wires (12, 12) which form loops (13, 14) on at least one longitudinal end (15) of the lattice mesh (10). The invention is characterised in that at least one loop (13, 14) is a reinforcement loop (13) formed by a wire (11) which, at least in the region of said reinforcement loop (13), has a larger cross-sectional diameter than the wires (12) which form the other loops (14).
