PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technology which suppresses generation of malodor at a source thereof, which is generated when raw refuse and the like are decomposed by bacteria and the like, and keeps an effect for a long period of time even though using a small amount of malodor generation inhibitor.SOLUTION: The malodor generation inhibitor contains one or more compounds selected from the group consisting of thymol, citral, decanol, eugenol and isoeugenol, as an active constituent.
