PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To acquire desired tissue information on a biological tissue in a clearer state suitable for diagnosis in observing a biological tissue with white light and special light.SOLUTION: An illumination device for an endoscope includes: a first light source 51 using a semiconductor light-emitting device as a light emitting source a second light source 53 using a semiconductor light-emitting device with a light-emitting wavelength different from that of the first light-emitting source 51 as a light emitting source a wavelength conversion member 57 for emitting light in excitation by emission light from at least one of the first light source 51 and the second light source 53 and light amount ratio changing means 55 for changing the ratio of the emission light from the first light source 51 to the emission light from the second light source 53.
