There is provided a catheter which has an excellent anti-kink property and also in which there can be prevented interference with respect to the object which moves inside the lumen. The catheter 1 of the present invention is characterized by including: a catheter main body 2 which forms a lengthy shape and also includes a lumen 21 extending along the longitudinal direction； a guide wire insertion portion 3 which is placed on the distal side of the catheter main body 2 and forms a tubular shape through which a guide wire 20 is insertable, and which includes a distal opening portion 37 and a proximal opening portion 36 ； and a reinforcement portion 22 provided with a coil portion 221 in which at least a portion thereof is arranged on the proximal side away from the proximal opening portion 36 and is wound by using an element wire, and an extension portion 222 formed by being expanded from the element wire of the coil portion 221 to the distal side away from the proximal opening portion 36, wherein the reinforcement portion 22 is positioned between the inner surface and the outer surface of the lumen 21 of the catheter main body 2.
