The apparatus comprises at least one body sensor measuring body temperature of the subject at least one body sensor measuring sweat output of the subject and a processor. The processor is configured to receive measurements from said at least one body sensors determine whether said subject is exercising in steady state and calculate, subject to said determining, maximal oxygen uptake per unit time for said subject using said received measurements.
