FIELD: medicine.SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to medical equipment, namely to medical devices for application of pressure on patient's extremity, particularly, on blood vessel or wound area. Medical device to provide local hemostasis in blood vessel or wound comprises housing to compress blood vessel, retaining element for attachment of housing to patient's extremity in section of contact of housing with patient's extremity, fastening mean for retention of device in desired position on patient's extremity. Housing has elongated cylindrical shape, it is hollow and has holes at ends. Housing has first area of compression to apply compressing force to blood vessel in section of contact, located within first area of compression, at least one second area of compression, by means of which housing is pressed with help of retaining element to patient's extremity, and third area of compression. First area of compression is located on outer surface of housing. Third area of compression is made with possibility to be pressed manually for control of contraction during application of device on patient's extremity. Third area of compression is located inside housing. Method of achieving local hemostasis in selected blood vessel in patient's extremity at maintaining blood flow through other blood vessels near said selected blood vessel, characterized by that above medical device is applied on vessel manually by pressing section of housing to bleeding vessel. Housing is kept on extremity by means of compressing force in third area of compression with subsequent fixation of housing on patient's extremity by applying retaining element around patient's extremity and fixation of retaining element by means of fastening. Retaining element exerts pressure on second area of compression. After installation of device in desired position squeezing force is removed from third area of compression. Method for stopping bleeding from wound in patient's extremity, characterized by that abo
