A nasal cannula comprising a hollow main body having opposed first and secondends with the main body defining an internal chamber therein. At least a firstnasal prong communicating with the internal chamber of the main body anddefining a first nasal prong passageway. A mouthpiece having a gas passagewayand a retainer passageway, and a first end of the gas passageway communicatingwith the internal chamber of the main body while a second free end of themouth piece having a gas passageway opening therein. An elongate malleabledead soft member being received within the retainer passageway for thefacilitating retained adjustment of the mouthpiece. A method of forming thecannula as well as a method of using the cannula are also disclosed.
