Provided is a practical method for controlling potato cyst nematodes by applying methionine alone, which exhibits a high nematode control effect even when the concentration of methionine applied is low. In this control method, 30 mg or more and 100 mg or less of methionine is applied to 200 g of soil inhabiting potato cyst nematodes.
