Disclosed is a firing button (32) for use in an automatic injection device (see figures 10A & 10B). The firing button comprises an outer portion for contact by a user of the automatic injection device to allow the user to depress the outer portion toward a first end of the automatic injection device, and an inner ring (32a) coupled to the outer portion. The inner ring is provided proximate to, or in contact with, a bifurcated end (see 788a&rsquo and 788b&rsquo) of a plunger. The inner ring has a diameter of between 6.0mm and 6.7mm. When the outer portion is depressed by the user the inner ring engages the bifurcated end of the plunger to disengage the bifurcated end from a firing body (12b) and subsequently trigger dispensing of the dose from the automatic injection device. An automatic injection device and methods for forming a firing button are further disclosed.
