The first jaw is movably supported so as to move to the first jaw. The surgical instrument further comprises a closure member that is axially movable in response to the closing and opening motion. The closure member comprises at least one release cam that protrudes from the closure member and is movably engaged with a corresponding cam surface on the second jaw so that the jaw is under load.
