The present invention relates to a novel sulfur-oxidizing bacterium Acidithiobacillus thiooxidans SOB5VT1 and a device and a method for removing odors using the same. The Acidithiobacillus thiooxidans SOB5VT1 of the present invention removes odors by decomposing a sulfur-containng compound which is a main component of odors. In particular, other than hydrogen sulfide, the Acidithiobacillus thiooxidans SOB5VT1 simultaneously removes ammonia, methylmercaptans, acetaldehyde, propionaldehyde, butylaldehyde, n-valeraldehyde, and methylethylketone which are main components of odors. Also, the Acidithiobacillus thiooxidans SOB5VT1 can be raised well in acid so as to be usefully used for a device and a method for removing a compound causing odors including hydrogen sulfide.본 발명은 신규한 황산화 세균 에시디티오바실러스 티오옥시단스(Acidithiobacillus thiooxidans) SOB5VT1 균주 및 이를 이용한 악취 제거 장치 및 방법에 관한 것이다. 본 발명의 신규한 에시디티오바실러스 티오옥시단스(Acidithiobacillus thiooxidans) SOB5VT1 균주는 악취의 주성분인 황 함유 화합물을 분해하여 악취를 제거하고, 특히 황화수소 외에도 악취의 주성분인 암모니아, 메틸메르캅탄(methylmercaptans), 아세트알데히드, 프로피온알데히드, 부틸알데히드, n-발레르알데히드(n-valeraldehyde), 및 메틸에틸케톤(methylethylketone)을 동시에 제거하며, 산성에서도 잘 생육하므로, 황화수소를 포함하는 악취를 유발하는 화합물을 제거하는 장치 및 방법에 유용하게 이용될 수 있다.
