Disclosed are methods of regulating interleukin-6 (IL-6) and/or vascular celladhesion molecule-1 (VCAM-1) andmethods of treating and/or preventing cardiovascular and inflammatory diseasesand related disease states, such as, for example,atherosclerosis, asthma, arthritis, cancer, multiple sclerosis, psoriasis, andinflammatory bowel diseases, and autoimmunedisease(s) by administering a naturally occurring or synthetic quinazolonederivative. The invention provides novel syntheticquinazolone compounds, as well as pharmaceutical compositions comprising thosecompounds.
