To provide a white light emitting device capable of improving at least one of glare felt because light intensity in a blue visible light region is strong, an effect on a circadian rhythm, and an effect on dental treatments.SOLUTION: A white light emitting device 1 of an embodiment includes: a light emitting diode 3 having a light emission intensity peak at a wavelength region of 380 nm or more and 480 nm or less; and a phosphor layer 5 including a plurality of phosphors and emitting white light in response to excitation by the light of the light emitting diode. The white light has a correlated color temperature of 2,500K or more and less than 7,000K, and an average color rendering index Ra of more than 85.
