PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a guide wire wherein the operability of the guide wire is improved by enhancing torque transmissibility of a guide wire distal end part, and wherein safety is improved by making the distal end part of the guide wire flexible.SOLUTION: This guide wire 1 includes a core shaft 2, and a multilayer coil body 3 comprising N layers not less than three layers wound around at least a distal end part of the core shaft 2. The multilayer coil body 3 is formed such that the multilayer coil body 3 has portions, in each of which only two coil bodies adjacent from the center of the core shaft 2 to the outer circumferential direction of the multilayer coil body 3 are firmly fixed.
