PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide pharmaceutical compositions capable of rebuilding collagen through the stimulation of fibroblast growth and used in wound healing, and in reducing wrinkles.SOLUTION: The pharmaceutical compositions comprises &bgr；(1-3)&bgr；(1-4)glucan and a pharmaceutically active agent or a botanical extract generated by steps of: extracting the milled cereal grain with an alkaline solution to produce an extract containing at least about 0.4 wt.% of &bgr；(1-3)&bgr；(1-4)glucan； removing insoluble material, and removing particulate material having a particle size of greater than about 0.2 &mu；m from the extract to produce a purified extract； adding about 10-25% (w/w) of a C1-C4 alcohol to the purified extract to precipitate the &bgr；(1-3)&bgr；(1-4)glucan； and isolating the &bgr；(1-3)&bgr；(1-4)glucan.【課題】線維芽細胞を刺激することによってコラーゲンを再構築することができ、創傷治癒及びしわの抑制などに使用できる医薬組成物の提供。【解決手段】粉砕された穀粒をアルカリ性溶液で抽出して、少なくとも約０．４重量％のβ（１－３）β（１－４）グルカンを含有する抽出物を生成するステップと、前記抽出物から不溶物を除去し、粒径が約０．２μｍを超える粒状物を除去して精製抽出物を生成するステップと、約１０～２５％（ｗ／ｗ）のＣ１～Ｃ４アルコールを前記精製抽出物に添加して前記β（１－３）β（１－４）グルカンを沈殿させるステップと、β（１－３）β（１－４）グルカンを単離するステップとを含む方法で生成されたβ（１－３）β（１－４）グルカン及び医薬活性剤又は植物性抽出物とを含む医薬組成物。【選択図】なし
