The group of inventions relates to medicine and veterinary science, and more particularly to medical and veterinary gynaecology. Proposed is the use of 9-phenyl-sym-octahydroselenoxanthene as an agent for treating female infertility and infertility in female animals, which stimulates folliculogenesis and promotes embryo implantation in the uterine endometrium. Also proposed is a medicinal preparation and a pharmaceutical composition which contain 9-phenyl-sym-octahydroselenoxanthene as an active ingredient. The invention broadens the range of agents for boosting fertility by non-hormonal stimulation of folliculogenesis.
