A method and a system for verifying the integrity of sensor data. Values arereceived (2100) from a sensor. A parameter related to the values is comparedto a threshold (2110). For example the second-order derivative of the valuesmay be compared to a threshold. Additional threshold violations are monitoredfor further values received from the sensor (2130). The receipt of data isterminated when two parameters exceed the threshold (2170). A method and asystem for filtering data based on a quantifier of a variance derived fromsensor data. The quantifier being used as input to an adaptive filter forfiltering the sensor data. A method and a system for calibrating a sensor bydetermining the reliability of the sensor data, discarding data values thatare unreliable, filtering the data values that have not been discarded andadjusting the output of the sensor using the filtered data values.
