PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shell formation composition for soft capsules which contains components other than gelatin as a main component, and can suppress a decrease in physical strength (bursting strength) when a high phosphate-containing oil having a phospholipid concentration of 20 mass% or more is a core of the capsules.SOLUTION: This invention relates to a shell formation composition for soft capsules to store a core containing a high phosphate-containing oil with a phospholipid concentration of 20 mass% or more. The shell formation composition for soft capsules contains (A) a starch and/or a dextrin, (B) gelling agent, (C) glycerol and (D) a sorbitol.
