PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for imparting drying tolerance to a plant easily usable and capable of sufficiently performing the opening of pores in irrigation, and to provide a plant drying tolerance imparting agent used therefor.SOLUTION: A method for imparting drying tolerance to a plant includes scattering at least any of a compound represented by formula, its derivative and their salts. In the plant drying tolerance imparting method, preferably, ABA8-hydroxylase is specifically suppressed to increase the concentration of internally generated abscisic acid.
