Flame resistant fabrics having antimicrobial properties that combat odorand/or resist hazardous microorganisms. The fabrics are particularly suitablefor use in clothing and more particularly in protective garments designed tobe worn by individuals, such as military personnel and emergency rescuepersonnel, at risk of exposure to fire and extreme temperatures as well ashazardous substances. The fabrics may be formed in a variety of ways,including, but not limited to, incorporating antimicrobial fibers into theflame resistant fabric yarn or by treating the pre-formed flame resistant yarnor fabric with antimicrobial agents in a dyeing or finishing process.
