The present invention relates to a melatonin preparation suitable for parenteral administration to neonates. In particular, the present invention relates to pharmaceutical preparations comprising melatonin nanoparticles for the treatment of neonatal brain injury. The formulation may be in the form of a reconstituted powder before use or in the form of a ready-to-use suspension in a suitable aqueous vehicle.
