PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To automatically create a processed image accurately expressing characteristics of a measurement object such as a lesion.

SOLUTION: A spectral image acquisition means 10 acquires a plurality of spectral images SP1-SPkof the measurement object. Secondly, a characteristic amount extraction means 20 extracts respective characteristic amounts (edge intensity) X from the plurality of spectral images SP1-SPk. An image selection means 30 rearranges the plurality of characteristic amounts in the high order of evaluations and selects highly evaluated spectral images SPD, SPBand SPC. Then, an image generation means 40 assigns R signal, G signal and B signal to the respective spectral images SPD, SPBand SPCand generates the processed image CP.
