The present invention relates in general the treatment of the skin and, in particular, the limitation of the ageing effects. The present invention relates to a new active complex antioxidant extracts of algae for the treatment of skin. In particular, the new active complex according to the invention is intended to combat ageing of the skin by the induction or repression of specific genes. The present invention also relates to a cosmetic composition containing the active complex comprising at least one extract of green algae and at least three extracted from brown algae, said brown algae are different, in an appropriate vehicle, to a cosmetic application.
