PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide novel use of calcitonin in rheumatoid arthritis, and a method of treating and/or preventing rheumatoid arthritis and related conditions in mammals, particularly humans.SOLUTION: There is provided, in particular, a method of preventing or/and treating rheumatoid arthritis in a patient requiring treatment including administration of a therapeutically effective amount of calcitonin, such as salmon calcitonin, in free form or salt form, to the patient in a pharmaceutically acceptable form of oral delivery.
