The invention may identify the approximately 15-20% of total knee replacement patients that are likely to have a problem (e.g. pain, distress, lack of improvement in disability) post-surgery before they have surgery. In addition the invention may intervene pre-operatively and post-operatively to prevent or at least substantially reduce sub-optimal recovery outcomes. This invention provides a means for reducing post-operative complications, costs, complaints and / or re-admission to hospital.
