The processing unit 130 performs, on the received signal, processing for specifying the reflection intensities from point scatterers in the subject based on M basis waves (where M is an integer of 2 or more) at least two of which have phases shifted from each other with a phase difference smaller than a phase difference that corresponds to the pulse width of a transmission pulse signal transmitted from the transmission processing unit 110 or to the pulse width of a received signal in response to the transmission pulse signal.
