A headgear configured to hold a respiratory mask in position on a patient&rsquo；s face during positive pressure treatment of the patient, comprises a plurality of straps configured to provide a four-point attachment to the respiratory mask and a rear portion configured to engage a back of the patient&rsquo；s head. At least one strap comprises a plurality of fabric layers and at least one conformable material arranged between the plurality of fabric layers. The rear portion comprises a first portion arranged to substantially encircle a parietal region of the patient&rsquo；s head during use and a second portion arranged to substantially abut an occipital region of the patient&rsquo；s head during use. The plurality of straps are configured to be attached to the rear portion such that a first strap is arranged to be connected to the rear portion 220 above the patient&rsquo；s ear and a second strap 230 is arranged to be connected below the patient&rsquo；s ear. At least one straps is configured to have a joint arranged at a lateral edge of the at least one strap, the lateral edge having a rounded configuration such that the joint is positioned at approximately a center or middle of the edge to be away from the patient&rsquo；s face during use.
