The present invention relates to a composition containing as active ingredients a periostin protein or a fragment thereof for preventing or treating ischemic diseases. The periostin protein or a fragment thereof of the present invention promotes a migration of vascular endothelial cells, an adhesion thereof and a tub formation and has the effect of promoting angiogenesis in ischemic four-footed animal models. Accordingly, the invention can be usefully used for preventing or treating ischemic diseases.본 발명은 페리오스틴 단백질 또는 이의 단편을 유효성분으로 포함하는 허혈성 질환의 예방 또는 치료용 조성물에 관한 것이다. 본 발명에 따른 페리오스틴 단백질 또는 이의 단편은, 혈관내피세포의 이동, 유착 및 맥관 형성을 촉진하고, 허혈성 사지 동물모델에서 우수한 신생혈관 형성촉진 효과를 가지고 있어, 허혈성 질환의 예방 또는 치료에 유용하게 이용할 수 있다.
