The instant disclosure provides a photocatalyst air purifier and method for purifying air using the same. The photocatalyst air purifier includes a housing, a photocatalyst layer, a light emitting device, a fan and a control device. The housing has a flow inlet and a flow outlet, the photocatalyst layer is disposed in the housing and between the flow inlet and the flow outlet. The photocatalyst layer has a plurality of pores. The light emitting device is disposed in the housing, an air flow generated by the fan enters the housing via the flow inlet, passes through the photocatalyst layer, and is discharged from the housing via the flow outlet. The control unit is electrically connected to the light emitting device for controlling the light emitting device to illuminate a light intermittently onto the photocatalyst layer.
