The present invention relates to the use of an immunogenic composition comprising a porcine circovirus type 2 (PCV2) antigen and one or more veterinary-acceptable carriers for the preparation of a medicine for the prophylaxis and treatment of porcine respiratory disease complex (PRDC) in an animal.In preferred embodiments the one or more veterinary-acceptable carriers are selected from the group consisting of solvents, dispersion media, coatings, adjuvants, stabilizing agents, diluents, preservatives, antibacterial and antifungal agents, isotonic agents, and adsorption delaying agents.In a preferred embodiment the medicine is administered to an animal in need of such treatment in a therapeutically effective amount. In a preferred embodiment the PRDC is cause by PCV2.
