A defibrillator (AED) using two different ECG analysis algorithms which work sequentially to improve the accuracy of AED shock decisions. A first algorithm, such as (ART), is particularly suited for analysis in the presence of CPR periods. A second algorithm, such as (PAS), is particularly suited for analysis during hands-off periods. The AED switches algorithms depending on the period and on the current analysis of the cardiac rhythm. The inventions thus provide an optimized ECG analysis scheme in a manner that improves the effectiveness of the rescue, resulting in more CPR "hands-on" time, better treatment of refibrillation, and reduced transition times between CPR and electrotherapy.La présente invention concerne un défibrillateur (AED) utilisant deux algorithmes d'analyse d'ECG différents qui fonctionnent de façon séquentielle afin d'améliorer la précision des décisions de choc AED. Un premier algorithme, tel que (ART), est particulièrement adapté pour analyse en présence de périodes de CPR. Un deuxième algorithme, tel que (PAS), est particulièrement adapté pour analyse au cours de périodes hands-off. L'AED commute les algorithmes suivant la période et l'analyse actuelle du rythme cardiaque. L'invention concerne donc un schéma d'analyse d'ECG optimisé d'une manière qui améliore l'efficacité de l'intervention de secours, ce qui résulte à plus de temps de CPR "hands-on", un meilleur traitement de refibrillation, et des temps de transition réduits entre la CPR et l'électrothérapie.
