PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To curvingly operate a curving section at a light load according to an operation mode without impairing the original function of a curving means.
SOLUTION: The curving section 2b of an insertion section 2 is curved by operating operation knobs 13UD and 13LD with hand fingers, however, when an operating lever 26 or an operating knob 27 is operated, the resistance applied to the operation of the operation knobs 13UD and 13LD is changed from a minimal loading state to a locking state. The operating lever 26 and the operating knob 27 can change over between a regular operation mode for applying a load set when the endoscope is regularly operated, to the operation knobs 13UD and 13LD from the loaded operation state set by load applying members 36 and 37 to the locking state, and a light operation mode for allowing the operation of the operation knobs 13UD and 13LD under a minimum loading state where applying no load of the load applying members 36 and 37 thereto.
