A magnetic wire and medical procedure are provided. The wire is used to disrupt a clot within a body vessel. The wire includes a magnet that is positioned within the patients body adjacent the clot. A magnetic driver is positioned outside the patients body in proximity to the magnet. When the magnetic field of the magnetic driver is alternated, the wire moves within the body vessel to break up the clot.
