PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of treating a disorder of a subject's heart involving loss of cardiomyocytes.SOLUTION: This invention relates to a method of treating a disorder of a subject's heart involving loss of cardiomyocytes, which comprises administering to the subject an amount of an agent effective to cause cardiomyocyte proliferation within the subject's heart, thereby treating the disorder. It is preferable that the agent is human endothelial progenitor cells. Moreover, it is preferable that the method further comprises administering an effective amount of a second agent that increases the cardiomyocyte proliferation. It is preferable that the administering comprises injecting directly into the subject's peripheral circulation, heart muscle, left ventricle, right ventricle, coronary artery, cerebro-spinal fluid, neural tissue, ischemic tissue, or post-ischemic tissue. The second agent inhibits translation of Vitamin D3 Up-Regulated Protein-1 mRNA and induces the expression of polynucleotide, pro-angiogenic agents, or pro-angiogenic factors.【課題】心筋細胞の減少を含む被験体の心臓の障害を治療する方法の提供。【解決手段】心筋細胞の減少を含む被検体の心臓の障害を治療する方法であって、前記被検体の心臓内で心筋細胞増殖を引き起こすために有効な薬剤の量を被検体に投与し、これにより前記障害を治療する方法。該薬剤は、ヒト内皮前駆細胞であることが好ましい。さらに、該心筋細胞増殖を増大する第２の薬剤の有効な量を投与することを含むことが好ましい。該ヒト内皮前駆細胞投与は、被検体の末梢循環、心筋、左心室、右心室、冠動脈、脳脊髄液、神経組織、虚血組織、又は虚血後組織へ直接注射することが好ましい。第２の薬剤がビタミンＤ３アップレギュレート蛋白質－１のｍＲＮＡの翻訳を阻外するものでポリヌクレオチド、或いはプロ血管形成薬若しくは、プロ血管形成因子の発現を誘導するものである。【選択図】なし
