PURPOSE: A method for producing a low molecular beta-glucan through irradiation is provided to reduce viscosity by cutting of beta-glucan structure and enhance solubility. CONSTITUTION: A method for producing a low molecular beta-glucan with enhanced immunity comprise: a step of dissolving the beta-glucan with solvent； a step of irradiating at 30~50 KGy； and a step of collecting the low molecular beta-glucan. The method further comprises a step of drying the dissolved material. The irradiation is X-ray.본 발명은 방사선 조사를 이용한 저 분자량의 베타글루칸(beta-glucan)을 제조하는 방법 및 이에 의하여 제조된 저 분자량의 베타글루칸에 관한 것으로서, 더욱 상세하게는 본 발명의 방사선 조사를 이용하여 얻어진 저 분자량의 베타글루칸은 모든 베타글루칸 구조들이 효과적으로 절편화가 되어 점도가 감소하고 용해도가 증가하며, 항산화 활성 및 면역세포 활성의 효과가 우수함을 확인함으로써 기능성 식품, 화장품 및 의약품 등의 원료로 유용하게 사용할 수 있다.
