Methods and compositions are provided for preparing Citrus plants with improved resistance to Asian citrus canker (ACC) and other forms of citrus canker caused by xanthonomas.The Methods include the transformation of plant cells of Citrus With polynucleotide constructs comprising a promoter operably linked to a Nucleotide sequence that encodes a Protein that is capable of shooting in a Citrus Plant Cell Death.
