The invention relates to the treatment and/or prevention of tumor diseases associated with cells expressing CLDN6, in particular cancer and cancer metastasis using antibodies which bind to CLDN6. The present application demonstrates that the binding of antibodies to CLDN6 on the surface of tumor cells is sufficient to inhibit growth of the tumor and to prolong survival and extend the lifespan of tumor patients. Furthermore, binding of antibodies to CLDN6 is efficient in inhibiting growth of CLDN6 positive germ cell tumors such as teratocarcinomas or embryonal carcinomas, in particular germ cell tumors of the testis.La presente invención se refiere al tratamiento y/o prevención de padecimientos tumorales asociados con células que expresan la CLDN6, en particular cáncer y metástasis de cáncer utilizando anticuerpos que se unen a la CLDN6. La presente solicitud demuestra que la unión de los anticuerpos a la CLDN6 en la superficie de las células tumorales es suficiente para inhibir el crecimiento del tumor y para prolongar la supervivencia y extender la esperanza de vida de pacientes con tumores. Además, la unión de los anticuerpos a la CLDN6 es eficiente para inhibir el crecimiento de tumores de células germinales positivas a la CLDN6 tales como teratocarcinomas o carcinomas embrionarios, en particular tumores de células germinales de los testículos.
