The invention relates to a composition for dyeing keratin fibres, such as human keratin fibres, and in particular the hair, comprising : - one or more dyes chosen from chromene dyes, chromane dyes, and mixtures thereof, - one or more zinc salts, - one or more organic compounds which are liquid at the temperature of 25 °C and at atmospheric pressure (760 mmHg) and which have a value for the Hansen parameter d? at 25 °C of less than 16 MPa½, and - benzoic acid and/or one or more salts thereof, the composition containing no chemical oxidizing agent other than the oxygen in the air, and also to a use process and to the use thereof.
