The present invention relates to a new use of a hydroxydihydrobovolide compound having effects in preventing hair loss and promoting hair growth. The hydroxydihydrobovolide compound of the present invention has effects not only in increasing the survival rate of human hair follicle papilla cells and hair outer root sheath cells but also in elongating the length of human hair. Thus, it is expected that the compound will be valuably used as a pharmaceutical composition or a cosmetic composition for improving the scalp and preventing hair loss. Moreover, the hydroxydihydrobovolide compound according to the present invention is isolated and refined from Eucheuma cottonii which is red algae and does not generate toxicity in cells, thereby being stable in vivo. Therefore, the hydroxydihydrobovolide compound can be used as a material of a functional health food.본 발명은 탈모 방지 및 발모 촉진 효과가 있는 하이드록시디하이드로보볼라이드 화합물의 신규한 용도에 관한 것이다. 본 발명의 하이드록시디하이드로보볼라이드 화합물은 인체 모낭 모유두 세포와 모발 외측 모근초 세포의 생존율을 증가시킬 뿐 아니라 인체 모발 길이를 신장시키는 효과가 있어 두피 개선 및 탈모 방지용 약학적 조성물 또는 화장료 조성물로써 이용 가치가 높을 것으로 사료되며, 또한 본 발명에 따른 하이드록시디하이드로보볼라이드 화합물은 홍조류인 유케마 코토니(Eucheuma cottonii)로부터 분리 및 정제된 것으로서 세포에 독성을 유발하지 않기 때문에 체내 안정한 특징이 있어 기능성 건강식품의 소재로도 사용할 수 있는 효과가 있다.
