PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fingerprint quality evaluation device capable of accurately evaluating an area appropriate for fingerprint collation and an area inappropriate therefor in a fingerprint image regardless of the fingerprint ridge line shape.SOLUTION: A fingerprint quality evaluation device includes a ridge line width distribution derivation part which provides an evaluation area of a predetermined size in a binarized fingerprint image and calculates a distribution value of ridge line widths in this area.
