PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a UV absorbing agent derived from a natural product which causes no environmental pollution, is highly safe to human and vegetables, is excellent in light resistance, and effectively absorbs UVB but has no absorption maximum at a wavelength region of 400-700nm, and to provide a cultivating method using the agent to effectively protect vegetables from UVB exposure.SOLUTION: There are provided a UV absorbing agent of which effective component is an extract extracted with water from the powdered fruit of one or more plants selected from plants of genus Vaccinium of family Ericaceae and plants of genus Vitis of family Vitaceae, and a cultivation method including a step of spraying or applying a solution of the UV absorbing agent onto the surface of the vegetables.COPYRIGHT: (C)2014,JPO&INPIT【課題】環境汚染がなく、人間および野菜類に対して安全性が高く、耐光性に優れ、UVBを効率的に吸収する一方で、400~700nmの波長領域に極大吸収をもたない天然物由来の紫外線吸収剤、および、それを用いて、UVB曝露から野菜類を効果的に防御・保護するための栽培方法を提供すること。【解決手段】ツツジ科(Ericaceae)のスノキ属(Vaccinium)またはブドウ科(Vitaceae)のブドウ属(Vitis)から選ばれた1種もしくは2種以上の植物の果実の粉砕物から水により抽出される抽出物を有効成分とする紫外線吸収剤、および、それを野菜類の表面に溶液状態で散布または塗布することを含む、栽培方法である。【選択図】図1
