The present invention relates to an apparatus and a method for calculating systolic blood pressure using a pulse transit time. According to the present invention, the method for calculating systolic blood pressure comprises the steps of: receiving data on a pulse transit time (PTT) and systolic blood pressure (SBP) of a patient group extracting a correlation between variables (a, y_0) by applying the data on the PTT and the SBP of the patient group to a PTT-SBP relation expression (SBP = a*PTT^(-1) + y_0), and then analyzing a result of the PTT-SBP relation expression receiving data on PTT and SBP of a measurement target and obtaining inherent variables (a, y_0) of the measurement target by applying the correlation between the variables, and the data on a first PTT and the SBP of the measurement target to the PTT-SBP relation expression (SBP = a*PTT^(-1) + y_0).
