The invention relates to a device for studying the infestation of honeybee populations with varroa mites. The device contains a vessel with a base, side walls and a lid. Within the vessel is a means which has the effect that the varroa mites fall away from the bees but does not harm the bees, and a means for fixing the varroa mites that have fallen off at the base of the vessel. The invention further relates to a method for studying the level of infestation of honeybee populations with varroa mites with the device of the invention, and to a method for studying the sensitivity of the varroa mites in a bee population to various acaricide-containing active ingredients with the device of the invention.
