An ophthalmic laser treatment apparatus for irradiating a laser beam to a patients eye from a tip of a probe, includes: a probe connector to which fibers of the probe are connected a splitting unit for splitting a laser beam from a laser source into a plurality of beams and a control unit for controlling the apparatus. The control unit receives a command to select the number of laser beams to be irradiated from the probe tip drives the splitting unit according to the received command to switch the number of delivered beams corresponding to the number of fibers to which the laser beam from the laser source will be delivered and increases output of the laser source when the number of delivered beams is switched to an increased number and decreases the output of the laser source when the number of delivered beams is switched to a decreased number.
