Die Erfindung betrifft ein Verfahren zur Ansteuerung einer landwirtschaftlichen Arbeitsmaschine (1), die insbesondere der Aufnahme und Verarbeitung eines Erntegutstroms (2) dient, mit einer Steuerungseinrichtung (3), mit mindestens einem Arbeitsorgan (4) und mit einem Hauptantrieb (7) für den Antrieb des Arbeitsorgans (4), wobei das Arbeitsorgan (4) über einen Antriebsstrang (8) von dem Hauptantrieb (7) angetrieben wird, wobei der Antriebsstrang (8) je nach Antriebsstrangzustand eine reale Übersetzung zwischen dem Hauptantrieb (7) und dem Arbeitsorgan (4) erzeugt, wobei der Antriebsstrangzustand durch eine fiktive Leerlaufübersetzung repräsentiert wird, wobei der Antrieb des Arbeitsorgans (4) unter einer Belastung (B) im Antriebsstrangs (8) stets mit einem Über setzungsdelta (d) zwischen der realen Übersetzung und der Leerlaufübersetzung einhergeht.
